Ukrainian flag raised at Racine City Hall to commemorate invasion anniversary
RACINE, Wis. (CBS 58) -- Residents of Racine will notice a new sight at City Hall, per orders by Mayor Cory Mason.
According to a press release issued on Friday, Feb. 24, the Ukranian flag is set to fly at the City of Racine's City Hall to recognize the one-year anniversary of the Russian invasion of Ukraine.
In a statement, Mayor Mason noted that the Ukranian flag being raised is intended to heighten awareness about the situation in Ukraine and to inspire people to take action in helping people in Ukraine who are "fighting for democracy and their country's freedom."
He continued, "Together, we can make a difference and stand in solidarity with those affected by the conflict. Let us honor the bravery of those on the front lines and work towards a peaceful resolution to this crisis."
