KENOSHA, Wis. (CBS 58) -- Uline already has a presence in the Kenosha area, with millions of square feet of property in Kenosha and Pleasant Prairie.
They’re even having a job fair in two days.
“They’re our largest employer here in the village of Pleasant Prairie," Village Administrator Nathan Thiel said. "They have been an excellent corporate partner.”
Now they are reportedly considering an additional 1.1 million square foot warehouse.
“It reflects well on the community," Kenosha Alderman Jan Michalski said. "It reflects well on the city, and reflects well on the situation as far as their location otherwise too.”
Michalski says he’s glad Kenosha doesn’t carry risks of Foxconn investment, which hasn’t produced locally like Uline.
“They are producing the jobs," Michalski said. "Foxconn hasn’t produced much in the way of jobs. It’s speculative, but we’ll see.”
While Foxconn failed to meet it’s 260 job goal last year, Uline already employs more than 1700 people in Pleasant Prairie alone.
Village leaders say company diversity is a good thing.
“Clearly whenever any company is expanding, it’s an immediate boost to the employment in our area," Thiel said. "Uline, we’re excited about their expansion.”
Kenosha leaders say Uline has not submitted official plans to Kenosha for the new building.
