MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) – U.S. Olympic gold medalist Aly Raisman addressed a crowd in Milwaukee Wednesday morning at The Women’s Center of Waukesha County's annual luncheon.
The Women's Center provides support and resources to abuse and assault victims. At the event, Raisman talked about her journey from an athlete to activist and advocate for sexual abuse survivors.
"It is never okay," Raisman said. "I think that you [victims] have the right to feel any emotion that you want because it is just disgusting what happens to anyone and no one should ever, ever be abused."
Around 850 people attended the event. Money raised from a raffle and silent auction at the event will benefit The Women's Center.
