Vehicle involved in crash with Amtrak train in Jefferson County

IXONIA, Wis. (CBS 58) -- Deputies responded to a crash involving a vehicle and Amtrak train in the town of Ixonia Wednesday, Nov. 10.

The Jefferson County Sheriff's Office says it happened around 1:24 p.m. on River Valley Road.

A preliminary investigation indicates that the vehicle was heading northbound on River Valley Road when it attempted to cross the tracks. 

An Amtrak train was heading eastbound and struck the vehicle while it was crossing.

The lone occupant of the vehicle was transported to a local hospital for "precautionary measures."
