MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- The Versiti Blood Center of Wisconsin is issuing an emergency appeal for blood donations.
Recent snow storms and sub-zero temperatures have caused a sharp decline in donations and many cancelled community blood drives which leaves the blood supply at dangerously low levels, the blood center confirmed.
All blood types are at critically low levels. In particular, O positive and O negative donations, as well as platelet donations, are sorely needed.
To make an appointment, call 1-877-BE-A-HERO or click here.
Anyone age 17 or older in good health who meets eligibility requirements is encouraged to give. Parental consent is required for donors age 16 to give. Donors should bring a photo ID that includes their birth date to their appointment.
