Burnhearts Mitten Fest will take place Saturday outside Burnhearts in Bay View, marking its return to its original location. The annual winter block party runs from noon to 8 p.m., featuring live music, food vendors and craft beverages. The musical lineup includes performances by Shontrail at 1 p.m., Bug Moment at 2:30 p.m., BLAX at 4 p.m. and Fight Dice at 5:30 p.m.
The Milwaukee County Zoo will offer free admission Saturday, Feb. 1 as part of its Family Free Day program. Parking and attraction fees still apply. Visitors can see red pandas Dash and Dr. Erin in their outdoor habitat, where they are often spotted climbing or resting with their tails wrapped around them for warmth.
The ISU World Cup Speed Skating returns to Milwaukee for the first time in nearly 20 years, running from Friday through Sunday at the Pettit National Ice Center. The competition features events in the 500m, 1000m, 1500m and longer distances, with Milwaukee native and six-time world champion Jordan Stolz expected to compete. Olympic medalists Erin Jackson, Brittany Bowe, Mia Manganello and others will also take the ice.
Looking ahead into next week, Milwaukee Flavor Live, an event for foodies at the Milwaukee Public Market, is scheduled for Thursday, Feb. 6. It includes a four-course dining experience with dishes from local chefs, specialty drinks and interactive food stations.
