Walmart Neighborhood Market in Milwaukee to close in May

MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- The Walmart Neighborhood Market located at 7025 W. Main St. in Milwaukee is slated for closure on May 17, the company has announced.

According to a Walmart communications director, the decision followed a detailed business review, identifying the store as underperforming against the company's financial benchmarks.

Despite the closure, Walmart is emphasizing that the retailer is maintaining a commitment to its employees and the Milwaukee area, with plans to support the 105 associates affected by the closure through potential transfers to nearby locations.

The company's representative noted that a Walmart Supercenter is located around three miles from the closing store.

"We are grateful to the customers who have given us the privilege of serving them at our Neighborhood Market at 7025 W. Main St. Milwaukee, WI. We look forward to continuing to serve them at one of our 11 other Walmart stores in the Milwaukee area, on Walmart.com and through delivery to their home or business," stated the company's communications director.

Walmart remains a major employer in the region, with nearly 100 stores and Sam’s Clubs across Wisconsin.
