Walworth Co. deputy shoots, strikes armed suspect in East Troy
EAST TROY, Wis. (CBS 58) -- An officer-involved shooting is under investigation in Walworth County.
According to the sheriff's office, a 911 call came in around 3:45 p.m. Monday, Oct. 7, and the caller stated he was being attacked by a woman with a razor blade at a residence on Wilmers Grove Road in East Troy.
Officers were dispatched to the location and confirmed a suspect had cut the caller with a razor blade.
Officials say the suspect exit3ed the residence through a window armed with a knife.
Despite numerous commands to drop the weapon, the suspect advanced toward officers and a Walworth County deputy sheriff discharged their rifle, striking the suspect.
The suspect was transported to a local hospital in critical condition.
The victim suffered non-life-threatening injuries.
The suspect was taken into custody and the following charges are being referred to the Walworth County District Attorney's Office:
- 2nd-degree recklessly endangering safety while armed
- Disorderly conduct while armed
- Felony intimidation of a victim
The Walworth County sheriff's deputy that discharged their weapon was placed on administrative duty per policy.
The Waukesha County Sheriff's Office is the lead on the investigation.
