WAUKESHA, Wis. (CBS 58) -- A suspect, originally at the Waukesha Police Department for an unrelated complaint, was apprehended following a violent confrontation on Tuesday, July 25.

As officers reportedly inquired about a pending retail theft case, the situation escalated, leading to his attempted arrest.

Officials say the suspect resisted fiercely, striking two officers before fleeing the premises.

Additional law enforcement officials deployed Tasers in response, subduing the suspect after multiple attempts.

The two assaulted officers, suffering minor injuries, received treatment at Waukesha Memorial Hospital and were subsequently discharged.

Following medical clearance, the suspect is currently detained at Waukesha County Jail.
