Waunakee man arrested for 2nd OWI after causing crash that injured 5 others

DANE COUNTY, Wis. (CBS 58) -- Five people were injured in a drunk driving crash in Dane County on Friday evening.

Deputies were called to the two-vehicle crash around 10:45 p.m. in Westport.

According to the Sheriff's Office, a family was driving in a rented 2020 Equinox on CTH M, turning north on STH 113 when they were hit by a 2006 Acura traveling south on STH 113.

All four occupants of the Equinox were taken to a local hospital where they are being treated for non-life threatening injuries.

The passenger in the Acura was also taken to a local hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries. The driver of the Acura, a 20-year-old Waunakee man, was arrested.

He is facing several charges including OWI causing injury, open intoxicants, and failure to stop at a stop light.
