'Have to reverse this': Fans hope Brewers use home field advantage for NLCS Game 2
MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- Brewers fans are hungry for a win after Monday night's Game 1 loss, trying to do their best to keep the energy and excitement up at American Family Field.
Many of them started their day hours before first pitch.
You can tell Monday night's loss has raised the stakes even higher. On top of that, it's not a sellout- there are a noticeable number of seats empty in the upper deck.
Nyjer Morgan got the crowd fired up with a pregame video. Then former slugger Eric Thames took the microphone to whip the crowd into a frenzy, ripping his shirt off.
Then, it was game time. Freddy Peralta gave the fans a lot to cheer about by striking out Shohei Ohtani to start the game, and Jackson Chourio's leadoff homerun just about ripped the roof off.
But the Dodgers' two-run second inning quieted the crowd.
Still, a lot of people have been on their feet for most of the game, especially for a full count or when the Dodgers strike out.
"We have to reverse this," said Bill Campbell of Menomonee Falls. "We can't let them get any momentum. This has to be a home field advantage for a reason and take advantage of it."
“Feeling good," said Troy Schmeling, Brewers fan from Hartford. "It was a close one last night. And I think we’re going to pull it out tonight. It was a great game. Take one tonight. Take a couple in Los Angeles and finish up here. Let’s do it in our Game 6.”
Fans know how important this game is. The difference between a tied series or going to Los Angeles down 2-0.
"We have Freddie on the mound tonight," said Brewers fan Brady Harman of West Bend. "So, I feel really good about that."
"Uh, a little nervous," said Courtney Jacobson, fan from Waukesha. "But I think they're going to come back. That's what they do all year."
"To me, right now, they should be America's team," said Robert Kronengold, Dodgers fan from North Carolina. "I think they're the best fans that I've seen. Even Dodgers fans are good, but the crowd last night, the electricity."
