SOUTHERN WISCONSIN (CBS 58) – In week six of the high school football season, the CBS 58 Tailgate Game of the Week is featuring Westosha Central and Burlington.
The last time Westosha Central made the playoffs, the iPad didn’t exist and the current team was in elementary school.
But at the mid-way point this season, the Falcons are just two wins away.
At 4-1, the Falcons have more wins this year than the last four seasons combine. Seniors and a well-rounded attack have led the charge.
The Falcons have scored at least 21 in every game, the defense is giving up 17 points a night so those seniors are dreaming about the playoffs.
“It’d be something pretty special, especially for this senior class since we didn’t win a game until the first game of junior year. To come out and make the playoffs our senior year would be incredible,” says Senior LB Reid McNiell.
“These seniors are just phenomenal leaders and have brought in to what we are trying to do here as a program. School-wise, I have never felt the excitement around football that we’ve had this year. Even after the loss, I was expecting to hear some negativity from around the school, but not one negative comment,” says Westosha Central Head Coach Tyson Mengel.
Tune in Friday at 10 for highlights from the CBS 58 game of the week as well as highlights from other games around the area.
