MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- Wehr Nature Center is hosting two public events in the coming weeks, beginning with the 42nd Annual Friends of Wehr Native Plant Sale Fundraiser. The event will be held Saturday and Sunday, May 31 and June 1, at the center, located within Whitnall Park in Franklin.

Jessica Del Toro, marketing and communications coordinator for Friends of Wehr, joined us Tuesday, May 27, to preview the fundraiser as well as Reptile Day.

The plant sale runs from 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. each day and will offer Southeastern Wisconsin-specific native plants for both novice and experienced gardeners. Volunteers will be on site to assist with plant selection, and donations of native plants will be accepted to support habitat restoration efforts.

Reptile Day will take place on Sunday, June 8 from noon to 4 p.m. Dozens of live reptiles and amphibians will be on display, including turtles, snakes, lizards and salamanders. The event will feature guided hikes, reptile-themed crafts for children and presentations on coexisting with native wildlife. Food will be available for purchase, with proceeds benefiting Friends of Wehr.
