Wehr Nature Center is stirring up interest in science and engineering for girls and women
FRANKLIN, Wis. (CBS 58) -- There's a significant lag when it comes to women in the field of science and engineering. One estimate shows that only 34% of females actually go into the STEM field.
An upcoming event, hosted by the Friends of Wehr Nature Center, is putting the spotlight on this particular issue.
"Women & Girls in Science" highlights famous females who were scientists over the generations, but organizers hope the gathering is a way to spark interest and better yet find the next generation Madame Curie.
The "Women & Girls in Science" event is this coming Saturday, Mar. 4 at the Blatz Pavilion in Glendale's Lincoln Park. Admission is $5 with registration taking place online by clicking here.
Also, this time of the year is when we all seem to be tapping into some goodness with our trees. More specifically gathering sap to make maple syrup. In a few weeks, Friends of Wehr Nature Center will be hosting its annual "Maple Sugar Days." More specifically, it's on Mar. 18 and 19 between noon and 4 p.m. Click here to purchase tickets ahead of time.
