WHITEFISH BAY, Wis. (CBS 58) -- The Whitefish Bay Little League team is on the verge of history, now just one win away from advancing to the Little League World Series.

They would be the first team from Wisconsin to ever play in Williamsport.

Whitefish Bay beat Missouri, 9 to 4, on Thursday, August 13.

The Under-12 regional championship game is Friday at noon.

Head coach Kyle Fox said the team is also having fun, despite the pressure. "They are all pretty laid back," he told us from Whitestown, Indiana. "They don't really get too worked up in tense moments."

Fox is talking about the players. Their parents, however, may be a different story.

Whitefish Bay has won three elimination games in a row and Fox says the kids never seem to get too stressed out.

Still, "They know if we happen to win tomorrow there's a prize after."

This squad won the state championship as 10-year-olds, making it easier to enjoy this success.

But they're not the only ones.

Mike Schwartz is the president of the Whitefish Bay Little League. He told us, "This has been a magical season, in general. We actually at all five age groups of Little League we won state this year."

Schwartz says the town is locked in. Even former opponents, like Lakeland Little League, are cheering them on.

Little League officials say the groundwork for this success was laid years ago, and will continue for years to come, especially with the next generation of players.

"It's crazy to think that I might be there someday," 8-year-old Landon told us.

Landon and his friends watched Thursday's game from summer camp.

He said, "It was a big group watching on the projector. We were all chanting, it was crazy."

Then they headed to the field for a whiffle ball game of their own.

Scwartz credits the success to years and years of parents putting in time and passion. "This group is lifted up by all the groups before them and all the parents before them."

But the World Series is different.

Schwartz said it's hard to put into words what it would mean to make it to Williamsport. "It's a privilege for us to continue shepherding the Little League," he said. "But it was great before and it will continue to be great after."

Fox said his pitching is all set up with his ace ready to go Friday and top relievers rested.

But he said his pregame message will be the team that has the most fun makes the most plays.

"Just go out there and play loose," Fox told us. "Not getting caught up in the moment."

Whitefish Bay plays Iowa Friday at noon. It's a winner-take-all game with the Little League world series on the line.
