Wisconsin DNR updates public lands mapping app

MADISON, Wis. (CBS 58) -- The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources updated its web mapping application for public lands, offering new features for residents and visitors planning to explore the outdoors in Wisconsin.

The Public Access Lands app, available for desktop and mobile devices, provides information on state parks, county forests and lakes for activities like hiking, hunting and fishing.

DNR officials announced the update Wednesday, June 26, saying that app includes user-friendly tools and an uncluttered interface, allowing users to locate various public lands across the state.

Users can select specific themes to display layers relevant to activities such as fishing or hunting, such as maps and restricted areas.

The application also shows DNR parking areas and boat access sites, complementing the printed Public Access Lands Atlas. It includes information on Open Managed Forest Law and Forest Crop Law properties.
