Wisconsin Lutheran Sweet 16 bound for the first time
MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- Wisconsin Lutheran College is gliding their way to the Warriors first ever Sweet 16 berth. With Head Coach Aaron Aanonsen getting star social media status, after upsetting second ranked UW-Platteville.
"My daughter told me Sunday night, when she got home from a volleyball tournament. She said 'Dad, you went viral,'" Wisconsin Lutheran Head Coach Aaron Aanonsen said. "'And I've never seen you that loud ever. And I'm 17!"'
"When you see that video that went viral. A coach coming in and you guys going nuts. What are you going to remember?" CBS 58's Lance Allan asked.
"Yeah, just like all the feelings come back of that moment," Wisconsin Lutheran guard Jacob Stoltz said.
"Something that I'm gonna remember for the rest of my life," Wisconsin Lutheran Forward AJ Vos said. "I got a cousin on the team, Trey Keizer, who this is something we're going to be telling our kids about. You know, when we're reminiscing. When are we in our UNC status age? We're gonna be talking about that stuff."
Next up for the Wisconsin Lutheran Warriors? Washington-U, the team that ended their tournament, ran in overtime last year.
"I mean, the script writes itself sometimes," Vos said. "You know, that was an amazing thing that we get to face Wash-U again. And it will be an unbelievable thing. And another reason we got another chip on our shoulder because of what, it brings you back to what you felt that first time."
"The locker room feeling we had last year at Wash-U was something that was so somber we couldn't even think about it in the moment," Aanonsen said. "But these you know, these five fifth year guys came back for a reason."
"It just almost seems scripted honestly like obviously being able to play Wash-U like last year was just a really tough game for us," Stoltz said. "The way it ended was really tough."
"You know what they say? Sometimes life is better than a Hollywood movie," Lance Allan said.
"Right? Exactly," Stoltz said. "So, it almost seems like we're living in a movie right now."
