WISCONSIN (CBS 58) -- Wisconsin's Department of Public Instruction is giving school districts their report cards for the past year.

These give students, their parents and school faculty an idea of how their district is doing, with information on grades, test scores, attendance and more.

Milwaukee Public Schools was given a 58 out of 100, which means they meet expectations, according to DPI.

This year's report card is the first without any pre-pandemic data, and officials say it gives a clear look at post-pandemic education.

"When we talk about the impact that the pandemic had and we talk about test scores, we talk about mental health...and that's why it's so important that we look at so many data points and why I appreciate the report cards because it looks at so many different data points and yet it is still difficult to compare," said DPI Communications Director Abigail Swetz.

According to DPI, 94% of districts that got a report card met or exceeded expectations, but they did call 2023 a year of recovery and they're working to lower rates of absentee students and getting test scores higher.
