Penn Sauter carries Wisconsin Kulwicki Driver Development tradition
DEFOREST, Wis. (CBS 58) -- Someday, Penn Satuer hopes to follow his dad, grandfather and uncles into the NASCAR ranks. Today, the 16-year-old from DeForest, Wisconsin, is a finalist in the Kulwicki Driver Development Program.
"Just a really good honor to be a part of this, and I'm looking forward to the year ahead," Sauter says.
CBS 58 Sports Director Lance Allan asks, "What does racing means in Wisconsin when you have a name like Kulwicki? And I know your racing heritage and things like that, but just being a part of the Wisconsin racing scene, what does that mean to you?"
"Yeah, it means a ton," Sauter says. "You know, Slinger has the Kulwicki race and that's like pretty local. Like no one else really has a Kulwicki race. Yeah, I mean, it's just really cool. You know, Alan, he won the NASCAR championship. He's from Wisconsin. His roots are in Wisconsin. He's got that museum in Wisconsin. Just so many things can go back to Alan, in Wisconsin. And to be the guy from Wisconsin representing it is gonna be pretty cool."
