Woman dead after accident near Servite and Brown Deer
MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- The Milwaukee Medical Examiner says they were called to the scene of an accident near Servite and Brown Deer.
It happened Saturday, April 6. It was a two-car accident. One woman was pronounced dead. Police say a vehicle was traveling eastbound on N. Servite when that vehicle crashed into another, which was traveling westbound on Brown Deer, making a left turn. The driver making the turn was ejected and pronounced dead.
Friends and family members have confirmed the victim was a woman named Velina Alexander.
“She was a really beautiful soul, like inside and out. Such a giving and honest person and it’s just surreal that she’s gone," said Arriana Edwards, the goddaughter of Alexander.
Police say the driver of the first vehicle is a 19-year-old who suffered non-life-threatening injuries and was taken into custody.
Back in January, a pregnant woman and her baby were killed in a high-speed crash at the same intersection. A reckless driver in an SUV plowed into the minivan the woman was riding in.
The criminal complaint says the 18-year-old driver was going more than 80 MPH at the time of the collision. He is facing two counts of second-degree reckless homicide.
“People should be held accountable for their actions for sure," said Edwards.
Edwards says Alexander was a support system to several people and her loss will be felt by many.
“It’s tragic. It’s a tragic feeling and I just feel like nobody would never really believe you know how hurtful this situation is and how sad that she’s gone. I mean she’s going to be truly missed, honestly," said Edwards.
