Xtreme Raptor Day at Schlitz Audubon Nature Center offers close encounters with birds of prey
MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- Schlitz Audubon Nature Center is preparing to host its annual Xtreme Raptor Day, allowing visitors a unique opportunity to meet birds of prey on Saturday, Nov. 4 from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m.
The event's goal is to engage the community in wildlife and habitat conservation.
Attendees can expect to see 15 resident birds of prey, including hawks, owls, eagles and falcons. The collection also features a Turkey Vulture and an American Crow.
A newcomer to the event this year will be Zari, a Great Horned Owl who became part of the Center's raptor ensemble late last year.
In addition to viewing the birds, visitors will receive a passport for a Talon Quest Adventure Hike, which educates them about various bird species. Other activities include raptor shows and an opportunity to make window decals.
Registration is available for personal raptor meet-and-greets and photo sessions. Tickets are priced at $18 for adults and $5 for youth. The event will proceed rain or shine.
