MENOMONEE FALLS (CBS 58)--Preparing our children for the real world is a vital issue for any parent. And perhaps right up there is making sure they can take care of themselves when they're alone. The YMCA of Greater Waukesha offers both "Home Alone" and "Babysitting Training" classes. The two-hour "Home Alone" session targets 8 to 12 year olds while the six-hour babysitting class focuses on pre to early teens. Organizers say what the kids are learning is really a primer for being responsible in the real world and also keeping yourself from harm as best you can.
You don't have to necessarily be a Y member to take part in the "Home Alone" or "Babysitting Training" classes. If you're interested, just click here. Keep in mind class sizes are typically kept to a minimum due to any Covid concerns.
