'You belong here': Evers kicks off Pride Month at state Capitol

MADISON, Wis. (CBS 58) -- An emotional Governor Tony Evers spoke at the kickoff to Pride Month at the State Capitol in Madison on Thursday, June 1.

"For all those who only ever wanted to belong, who had to find their own family, who've never known home. You belong here. You are family here. You are welcome here," said Gov. Evers.

During the event, the Pride Flag was raised over the Capitol building.

Evers was the first governor to order the flag to fly during the month of June, recognizing the LGBTQ community.
