Mid-week sunshine ahead of a chance for stronger storms

NOW: Mid-week sunshine ahead of a chance for stronger storms
NEXT:

A change is our weather pattern is finally here!  After lacking significantly in rain during the month of May -- so much so that our plethora of precipitation from April has finally dried out -- we have entered our wettest month of the year rain wise and are expected to see showers and storms to finish the work week.

Quiet conditions with sunshine will stick around for the rest of today as high pressure holds.  Low pressure, however, is developing off to our west, and as this system approaches our area, a warm front will start to lift.  This front will change our wind direction from being onshore to back out of the south and southwest, which will allow for a warmup in temperatures for everyone.  Today's highs will be back in the 70s and 80s before highs get up to near 90 degrees by tomorrow and even into Friday.

A southwest wind is also bringing in the possibility of poor air quality back into SE WI, and while air quality index numbers are good right now, they could increase to near the Unhealthy for Sensitive Groups category, which would mean people with a condition would need to try to avoid being outside.  An Air Quality Alert is in place for all of our counties besides Dodge, Fond du Lac, and Sheboygan from noon today until 11pm.

This warm front will also usher in a warming in dew point temperatures which would then create the right recipe needed for severe weather.  Friday as of now is already under a Level 1 out of 5, or a Marginal Risk, for the potential of severe weather.  As of now, the environment will favor a large hail and damaging wind threat, with the better chance for tornadic activity down into the Missouri Valley.

Storm chances are forecasted to stick around for Saturday, before we turn quiet again on Sunday.
