JEFFERSON COUNTY, Wis. (CBS 58) -- One person is dead following a moped crash in Jefferson County Monday, April 28. 

The Jefferson County Sheriff's Office said just before 3:30 p.m., deputies were called to County Highway CW near Gopher Hill Road, in the Town of Ixonia. 

According to the sheriff's office, an operator of a moped was traveling westbound on County Highway CW and left the pavement, traveled into the gravel shoulder of the road and lost control. 

The driver was not wearing a helmet. 

Officials say lifesaving measures were attempted but the driver was pronounced dead at the scene. 

The incident is under investigation by the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office.
