MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- A 14-year-old boy charged in connection with the kidnapping of a 7-year-old in Milwaukee had his bond set at $100,000 Monday, Dec. 1.

Barry Coleman's case was moved into adult court last week.

His charges include kidnapping, taking hostages, and possession of a dangerous weapon by a person under 18.

It stems from a case in July when officials say Coleman, along with two others, allegedly grabbed the 7-year-old in front of his father's home during a botched robbery and held him for ransom.

The 7-year-old was found safe the next day, in the home of one of the suspects.

In court Monday, the court commissioner fired back after Coleman's lawyers cited his age as one of the reasons he should be eligible for a lower bond.

"Most people don't want to think that a 14-year-old could be so devious. I'm not one of those people," Hon. Barry Williams said. "I do believe in the adage that age ain't nothing but a number."

Twenty-five-year-old Corey Williams and 38-year-old Fabian Johnson also face kidnapping charges.

Coleman is set to be back in court next week.
