MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- The 14th annual "Heal the Hood" block party and resource fair kicked off Saturday morning, May 30.
Heal the Hood is much more than just music and entertainment though.
It has employment, housing and other community support resources.
The city says it's about a unique approach to building community collaboration and creating safe spaces for communities to thrive.
"We bring it to neighborhoods that have been devastated especially by gun violence," said event organizer Jessica Bulter. "In this particular neighborhood there have been a number of shootings tied to domestic violence so we like to fuse neighborhoods with resources they may not normally have access to."
The block party is located on Atkinson between 9th and 11th Streets, and goes until 6 p.m.
