MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- There is another delay in the 16th Street bridge project.

Since December 2025, the project team has designed, fabricated and installed a new steel replacement beam for the 1929-built bridge.

Milwaukee's Department of Public Works (DPW) announced Thursday, Aug. 13, the southern part of the bridge is now open.

Meanwhile, work continues on the northern portion.

DPW now says the full rehabilitation project will continue into December -- two months longer than previously planned.
