17-year-old dead after Waukesha crash, driver arrested for intoxicated homicide

WAUKESHA, Wis. (CBS 58) -- The Waukesha Police Department is investigating a fatal crash that occurred Monday, Dec. 30. It resulted in the death of a 17-year-old and the arrest of a 19-year-old driver for homicide by intoxicated use of a vehicle.

Waukesha police officials say the crash happened at 7:25 p.m. at the intersection of Sunset and Guthrie. Witnesses reported a vehicle traveling at high speeds before failing to stop at a stop sign, hitting two other vehicles, one of which reportedly rolled over.

A 17-year-old victim was airlifted to Froedtert Hospital, where they later died. Other people involved sustained non-life-threatening injuries and were treated and released.

The 19-year-old driver of the car that was allegedly speeding was arrested for operating while intoxicated and faces additional charges. The investigation is ongoing.
