MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- A young man from Milwaukee will spend the next three decades in prison, after a Christmas Eve shooting on the south side.

Eighteen-year-old Omarion Danielson was sentenced Tuesday for killing a mother by recklessly firing a gun towards her car.

Danielson will spend 32 years in prison for the murder of 27-year-old Sildian Torres.

"I hope he learns from what he did. I hope it haunts him every single day," said Torres' friend, Rosemary Perez.

Christmas will never be the same for Torres' loved ones.

More than a dozen family members and friends sat in the courtroom Tuesday to learn the fate of the man who killed her.

"She did not deserve that. She was so innocent. Like, literally, wrong place at the wrong time," said Torres' friend, Nicole Mojica.

Torres was driving with her boyfriend and 7-year-old son last Christmas Eve when she was shot.

During the investigation, Omarion Danielson confessed he was attempting to fire at a different car.

Danielson pled guilty in May to first degree reckless homicide.

"You took her life because of your carelessness and recklessness," Judge Jeffrey Wagner said to Danielson on Tuesday.

Danielson's attorneys noted his troubled childhood, with several years spent in and out the juvenile justice system.

Danielson said he's ready to accept the consequences.

"I know what I did was wrong. This is something I will have to live with forever," he said.

Judge Wagner based his decision on Danielson's criminal history and lack of rehabilitation.

"You have left a legacy of sadness behind. Your character's reflected your background - one of violence," Wagner said.

Torres' family told CBS 58 the sentencing won't cure their broken hearts.

"Today there is no justice. Sildian is gone, and there's nothing to bring her back," Perez said.

Her family said her 7-year-old son misses his mom a lot, but he has plenty of support around him.
