MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- Friends and family of Sildian Torres honored her life with a candlelight vigil Monday on Milwaukee's south side.

Milwaukee police said the 27-year-old was killed while driving near 29th and Greenfield on Christmas Eve.

Her family said she was hit by a stray bullet while driving to her mother's house for Christmas Eve.

On Monday, dozens gathered to cope through song and prayer.

"She was a wonderful woman. She loved hard," said Torres' cousin, Nestor Sanchez.

"She was one of those that didn't deserve this. I mean, no one deserves this, but especially Sildian," said her best friend, Jacqueline Gonzalez.

After successfully raising funds for her funeral, the family wants to see justice.

"Milwaukee needs to put the guns down. That's all there is to it. All this hate's gotta stop," Sanchez said.

The Milwaukee Police Department is investigating the shooting. No one is in custody.

"They've got a couple leads they're working on, but nothing concrete," Sanchez said.

"I won't stop until I know what happened to my best friend, and it hurts to not know," Gonzalez said.

Torres' 7-year-old son, Josiah, is beginning a new year without his mother, but surrounded by those who loved her most.

"The only thing that made us all be okay is to see how well he's doing and how he's taking it," Sanchez said. "He accepted that his mom's going to be an angel now."

Torres' funeral is on Saturday in Milwaukee.

Anyone with any information on the shooting that happened Christmas Eve should call MPD or Crime Stoppers.
