19-year-old woman sprays pepper spray at unsuspecting grocery shopper, police say
MADISON, Wis. (WISC) -- Grocery shoppers jumped into action Tuesday night to break up a fight at Woodman's Market on Gammon Road, according to a news release from the Madison Police Department.
When it was over, an 18-year-old woman explained to police how she was trying to purchase taco seasoning, when she suddenly was sprayed in the face with pepper spray, according to the release.
A 19-year-old woman is accused of spraying the victim. Officials said the two women have a history of conflict. The 19-year-old is still at large.
A third teen was also part of the unprovoked sneak attack, according to the release. She was recording the event on her cellphone.
After being sprayed, the victim started swinging and the two women ended up "slugging it out" until shoppers intervened, officials said.
The victim suffered bumps and scratches as well as swollen and watery eyes.
