2 charged following discovery of human remains in Lake Mattoon
Illinois State Police LAKE MATTOON, Ill. (CBS 58) -- Illinois State Police (ISP) say two suspects are now charged in connection to the discovery of human remains in Lake Mattoon.
Twenty-six-year-old James Adams and 62-year-old Robin Turner are charged with concealment of a homicide and dismembering a human body.
Investigators say boaters came across part of a human arm with distinct tattoos on June 28, prompting police to issue a call for help from the public in identifying the victim.
Additional remains were located in the lake following subsequent searches, according to ISP, and the victim was identified as 38-year-old Dalewayne Turner of Plainfield, Illinois.
Officers took Adams and Turner into custody after executing a search warrant at their residence July 1.
Police say both remain in custody, and additional charges are expected.
The investigation is ongoing.
