Milwaukee County Jail/Family

MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- Two people have been charged in connection with a fatal shooting of a 4-year-old girl.

JaiNadia Little was pronounced dead after a gun went off inside a back bedroom of a home near 39th and Sheridan in Milwaukee. It happened Feb. 17, while officials say the victim's aunt -- 25-year-old Derreanna Little and her boyfriend, 41-year-old Anthony Brookshire -- were present in the home.

Authorities recovered the gun believed to be involved in the incident in a vehicle outside the home, a Draco-style firearm.

According to a criminal complaint, Derreanna Little changed her story about what happened the day of the shooting. Investigators say Little initially said she was helping unload groceries when the shooting occurred and then later claimed she was changing her 1-year-old child's diaper inside the residence.

Little told investigators, according to the complaint, she never saw a firearm inside the home -- even after the child was shot. However, she later admitted to seeing Brookshire with the Draco-style firearm in the very same bedroom JaiNadia was shot.

The criminal complaint says, Brookshire admitted he stores a Draco-style gun under the pillows on an air mattress in the back bedroom and said Little was aware it was stored there. Brookshire reportedly told investigators when Little spends the night at the residence, he removes the gun from underneath the pillows.

According to court records, Brookshire is a convicted felon and is not to possess any firearms.

Brookshire faces one count of neglecting a child, consequence is death, and two counts of possession of a firearm by a felon.
