3 young patients and their families meet the Brew Crew during Spring Training trip
PHOENIX, Ariz. (CBS 58) -- For kids that have significant health issues, there are a lot of bad days. Well, not today. Three young patients from Aurora Health Care flew from Wisconsin. They got to be VIPs at Brewers Camp and throw out the first pitch.
"Today's a happy day,” said Rebecca Baker, mother of Blake Baker. "I actually had tears of joy. Seeing him interact with some of the players because he's a big baseball kid."
"This was a very enjoyable day," said Thomas Morano, father of Tyler Morano. "It has been a very enjoyable trip. Really. It's nice to just kind of relax and chill out a little bit."
"Coach Murphy introduced them to the whole team, in the locker room," Brewers legend Ryan Braun said. "Just creating special moments for kids is something that there's very few things in life that feel more meaningful or impactful."
"Today is a great day," Aurora Health Care President Gabrielle Finley-Hazle said. "It's a happy day. It's a day that we all I think want to be able to give to our communities and we were able to accomplish that today."
"Normally when Natasha gets off an airplane she has to go through a lot of tests," said GW Taylor, father of Natasha. "A lot of physical endurance. Sometimes it's not pleasant for her. So, this is a welcome change to be happy for once."
"Today is a happy day," said Dr. Kevin Dahlman, medical director Aurora Children's Health. "You know, even one of the parents had said today 'usually when we're getting on a plane that unfortunately means there's more tests and more blood to be drawn. And more testing. And of course, today we're getting on a plane.' Coming down here to beautiful sunny Arizona. Not for any tests, but to celebrate them. To celebrate the health that they've achieved and to be able to celebrate with the Brewers."
While the kids got to meet their idols, the players got a thrill just seeing the joy on the faces of the kids.
