CBS 58 FOND DU LAC, Wis. (CBS 58) -- Three people have been taken into custody after a police chase along Highway 41 on Sunday, March 8.
Authorities say that they observed a vehicle driving recklessly on Highway 41 near Military Road in the City of Fond du Lac. It was speeding and swerving in and out of traffic. Deputies tried to stop the car on Military Road but the car fled.
The car re-entered Highway 41 and deputies tried to deploy a spike strip and the car avoided them. However, the car lost control and entangled in a cable barrier on Highway 41 near Highway 28.
The chase lasted 17.2 miles.
The driver and two passengers were taken into custody and no injuries were reported.
Authorities found a rifle, methamphetamine, crack cocaine and marijuana in the car.
The driver, a 39-year-old man from Watertown, had eight open felony cases and one misdemeanor. The Fond du Lac Sheriff's Office will be referring to the following charges:
- Fleeing and eluding an officer.
- First-degree recklessly endangering safety.
- Felon in possession of a firearm.
- Possession with intent to deliver methamphetamine.
- Possession with intent to deliver cocaine.
- Possession of THC.
The passengers, a 23-year-old from Milwaukee and a 50-year-old from Watertown, have the following charges that are being referred:
- Possession with intent to deliver methamphetamine, party to a crime.
- Possession with intent to deliver cocaine, party to a crime.
- Possession of THC, party to a crime.
