MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- Milwaukee police is investigating a non-fatal shooting that happened earlier Sunday morning, Nov. 16, near Wright and Humboldt Blvd in a residential part of Riverwest.

The shooting happened near a popular Milwaukee bar called The Gig.

The victim, a 55-year-old, suffered from a non-fatal gunshot wound and refused medical attention. The Gig's owner told CBS 58 that it was an armed robbery.

Police are investigating what led up to the shooting and people who live in the area told CBS 58 that this doesn't typically happen there.

"This is a great place to hang out, it was just an unfortunate incident that happened here," said Riverwest resident Jacob Otten. "Live music, great people, good food all the time. This is a great place to hang out; there's no reason for any of this to happen here in Riverwest."

The shooting is under investigation and Milwaukee police are seeking unknown suspect(s).
