MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- A local Milwaukee band is pumped to perform at the US Cellular Stage on the Summerfest Grounds today!

5PM to Nowhere features members, such as vocalist Jacob Webb, drummer, Ben Dahms, bassist, Noah Bayer and guitarist, Christian Lese. They came together through mutual friends in the Milwaukee area.

The group works together to create engaging music in Milwaukee. Webb says the opportunity couldn't have come at a better time for them.

"Our new song Wolf Brain just came out last Friday. We are super excited about it. The reaction has been really good so far. So, that’s on all streaming platforms we would love if you check that out and follow us on social media at 5pm to Nowhere. We post about all of our upcoming stuff there whether it be shows or music coming out just communicating with people," explained Webb.

Webb says the group has influences of early Coldplay and Radiohead. They consider themselves indie rock and garage rock.

CBS 58's Alex Corradetti asked if they ever get nervous before a big show like Summerfest.

"We’ve played a lot of shows around Milwaukee. I’d say the first few we did kept the on the edge of my seat, or drum stool, throne if you will.. I’d say the more you play the more confident you get with it. The more you can feel the energy of the crowd you kind of feed off that. It becomes actually less of a nervous factor and more of an enhancer as to how you’re going to play that night," said Dahms.

5PM to Nowhere is excited to put a face to the name to the vibrant Milwaukee music scene. They hope that even after Summerfest, the community will support local artists.

"If you never go to places like Cactus Club and X-Ray Arcade you don’t know what you’re missing out on. It’s a fun thing to be a part of. You get a lot of familiar faces like that sort of thing. All the people in the bands... they want to talk to you and grab a drink with you after the show so it's just a fun thing to be around. If you’ve never been to a local venue, I’d say it's worth checking out Even if it's not us, there's a lot of great music in Milwaukee," said Lese.

Dahms said they love playing in this city and they consider it the best city to be playing music in.

Webb writes the lyrics for the group's songs, and they all agree that it can be quite the creative process.

"I think all of our brains come together and create something that is rather unique. I don’t mean that … braggadociously but it's difficult to explain because there are so many difficult parts to our writing process. We have a lot of energy when we perform. Our music is very full, there’s a lot of moving parts, the lyricism is fantastic, Jake is awesome at that. Christian is jamming away on the guitar and Noah is fantastic," said Dahms.

Webb is always thinking of song lyrics in his head. Sometimes, even just recording voice memos when inspiration strikes.

"It starts from a personal place. Obviously, I started writing to find a way to communicate how I was feeling inside, and I had no other way to do so. It unlocked that in me. The more I learned how we were able to create a community around our music I think is the most gratifying part of the process," said Webb.

The group has played in the tent stages at Summerfest before, but this is their first time taking the US Cellular Stage. They are very excited to perform at the biggest music festival in the world.

They just released new music and hope you'll give them a follow-on social media. Again, their show is at 2:30 on Thursday, June 20th on the US Cellular Stage.
