Pop up showers and storms Wednesday afternoon dropped some decent rainfall for a few lucky locations! Many of us, especially lakeside, remained dry as expected.
A few more pop up showers and storms are expected once again this afternoon, but they'll likely be farther inland than on Wednesday. Generally, they'll be west of a West Bend to Waukesha to Burlington line.
Pop up showers Friday afternoon will be even farther west, but folks in western Dodge, Jefferson, and Walworth counties may be clipped by a shower while the rest of us stay dry.
While yesterday's rain certainly helped those localized areas that saw it, we could use a widespread soaking rain across the region. Milwaukee just experienced its 6th driest May on record. It's also only the 8th time we didn't get an inch of rain in May.
The end of May also marks the end of climatological spring. After a fairly soggy start, Milwaukee ended up nearly two and a half inches below normal for the season.
We don't have much rain in the forecast over the next week, but the heat will continue for a few more days. Expect highs in the low to mid 80s lakeside and upper 80s to low 90s inland through the end of the week before our wind shifts to the NE and drops temps back into the 70s early next week.
