A La Carte at the Milwaukee County Zoo brings wild sights and good eats
CBS 58 MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) — This year marks the 40th annual A La Carte at the Milwaukee County Zoo, bringing wild sights and good eats to visitors.
"Definitely the brisket. That's going to be our favorite, and the corn," said Olivia Dahl, who attended the event.
With more than 30 food vendors, A La Carte brings some of Milwaukee's favorite local eats to the zoo grounds.
"We've been here for 25 years at least," said Pat Murphy, owner of Ultimate Confections in Wauwatosa.
For local business owners like Murphy, the event has become a tradition.
"It's just another Milwaukee festival, and this one is really geared for families as opposed to some other ones," Murphy said. "So, this is a really good one to bring the whole family to. That's probably the best part about the zoo thing."
With live music and, of course, all your favorite animals, the event brings some wild fun for the whole family.
"A La Carte is particularly special to us," said Kimberly Graves with the Milwaukee County Zoo. "Really taking things up a notch, especially for this event. Seeing the animals out is what we like to refer to as the zoo after dark, because we're not normally open in the evening. So, it's been really fun to see."
Visitors spent the day taking in the sights and making memories along the way.
"It's a beautiful day," Dahl said. "We love going to the zoo and seeing the animals. My daughter is here with my husband, so it's a great Sunday."
