MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- Two local businesses are helping Neighborhood House of Milwaukee turn an old storage room into a calming space.
Bob's Discount Furniture and BMO Harris Bank stepped up after hearing the story of one Milwaukee teen who'd use the room to deal with stress. It's now been given a full makeover with fresh paint and furniture.
"What we're trying to do is give them a place within Neighborhood House where they can basically chill out, where they can spend some time gathering their thoughts, maybe processing some of the challenges and stresses in their daily life, and maybe confront things a little differently," said Neighborhood House of Milwaukee Executive Director Jeff Martinka.
Mindfulness techniques are being taught as an effective stress-reducer. Bob's says the effort is a part of their community-based mission.
Neighborhood House, located on Milwaukee's west side, is a non-profit organization committed to helping children and families in Milwaukee.
