We continue to watch lake effect snow bands over Lake Michigan. At this time most of this is offshore but could still drift inland into this afternoon. Additionally, we are getting reports of slick spots with patchy freezing drizzle through the viewing area. Here's the latest snow reports into the office as of 11:30 a.m.

Lake effect snow is coming down in bursts for parts of Milwaukee, Racine and Kenosha Counties. The lake effect will likely last through the rest of the morning and into the mid-afternoon hours. Road conditions should start to improve by the evening commute. This won't be heavy snow all day in these areas but rather off and on lake effect snow showers that could be heavy at times. In addition to the lake effect snow, some freezing drizzle has been reported throughout all of southeast Wisconsin which could make for slippery roads, so use caution while traveling.
Here's a radar image that will update with time:
The first round of snow reports from the lake effect has come in with up to 3" reported so far in eastern Racine and Kenosha Counties. Less than one inch so far in southern Milwaukee Counties.
The forecast outlined below is on track with 3-6" of snow expected east of I-41/94 to Lake Michigan in southern Milwaukee and eastern Racine/Kenosha Counties through mid-afternoon with less to the west.

Some lake effect snow developed Sunday night for parts of Milwaukee, Racine and Kenosha Counties, but we are still waiting for the big beefy line of lake effect to develop. The best chance for heavy lake effect snow for those right near the lakefront will be from the morning commute through early afternoon.
Milwaukee County has now been added to the Winter Weather Advisory that was already previously issued for Racine and Kenosha Counties. This is mainly for communities south of the city itself that could see over 3" of snow. The advisory has also been extended a few hours until 4 PM for all three counties.
No changes right now to the expected snow totals previously outlined Sunday with 3-6" possible in far SE Milwaukee County and eastern Racine and Kenosha Counties with much less the farther west you go. The rest of the blog outline below remains unchanged.

A Winter Weather Advisory has been issued for Racine and Kenosha from 10pm tonight through 2pm Monday.
A northeast oriented lake effect snow band will develop after 9pm this evening, but the more persistent and intense lake effect snow band looks to establish itself in a north-northeast oriented fashion from Oak Creek to Racine to Kenosha after 5am Monday morning. Several inches of snow are expected to accumulate in this area during the Monday morning commute
Areas east of I-94 from Oak Creek to Kenosha will likely pick up 3" to 6" of snow, but higher totals can't be ruled out depending on how long the snow band sits in one spot. Locations near I-94 to downtown Milwaukee look to be in the 1" to 3" range with little to nothing farther west.
If you live or work in areas near and east of I-94 in Milwaukee, Racine, or Kenosha counties, plan for rapidly deteriorating visibility and road conditions the farther east you travel Monday morning. In addition to the snow, the wind will be gusting around 30 mph.
