Oak Creek Police: 4 in custody following theft, shots fired in Meijer parking lot
OAK CREEK, Wis. (CBS 58) -- Four people are in custody following a shots fired incident in the parking lot of Meijer.
According to the Oak Creek Police, officers responded to Meijer for a report of a theft, around 3:27 p.m.
The suspect exited the store and fled on foot from officers. After a foot pursuit, the suspect was taken into custody.
While taking the suspect into custody, officers heard gunshots. They observed an individual firing a handgun. That person was taken into custody, as well.
During the course of the investigation, two other suspects were also taken into custody.
According to police, two of the suspects were taken to area hospitals for treatment of unknown injuries. No officers were injured in this incident.
No one was struck by gunfire, but officers on scene found this car with multiple bullet holes
"After I got home from work I was just scrolling through Facebook like I normally would and saw it on there and heard something about someone," said Mike Bartlett.
He still feels safe shopping at Meijer. He got groceries almost immediately after hearing about the shots fired.
"I thought twice about it," said Bartlett. "I'm thinking, I don't know what it'll be like but I had to go -- either go tonight when it's nicer out or tomorrow."
"A little alarming to hear that type of stuff happened over here," said Cory Colvin.
Colvin lives nearby and was inside when police were on the scene, but didn’t know what happened until his wife called.
"Given that someone's just shooting aimlessly it could hit anyone, she was a little shaken up," said Colv
Anyone who may have witnessed anything or who has damage to their vehicle due to this car is asked to call the Oak Creek Police at 414-762-8200.
