MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- A pair of musical legends are finally getting their time in the spotlight. Milwaukee Rep's next play is about the unsung story of the 'godmother of rock n roll' Sister Rosetta Tharpe and Marie Knight in Marie and Rosetta. The play opens on October 22nd and runs through December 22nd in the Stiemke Studio located in downtown Milwaukee.
Did you know Sister Rosetta Tharpe has ties to Milwaukee? Her great-niece TeAnna Atkins runs her Legacy foundation and lives in the city with many other extended relatives who migrated to Milwaukee in the 1950's and 60's.
Tajma Hall peeked behind the scenes on CBS 58 Sunday Morning.
