American Science and Surplus store still faces uncertainty but could have a future

MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- American Science and Surplus could still have a future in Milwaukee, despite facing some tough times. 

Owner Patrick Meyer says that he'll be selling the business to his workers at the Geneva store and the one here in Milwaukee. 

American Science and Surplus has been around for nearly 90 years and it's a family favorite for buying everything from microscopes to gag gifts. 

CBS 58 spoke to the Milwaukee store's Assistant Manager Lilly Ward, who says they want to keep the city staple around for the customers. 

"I mean everything is special about it," said Ward. "We really like to build relationships with people here, we have a lot of regulars that we've gotten to know and you know we wanna keep those people around."

Meyers says he's asked his employees at the Park Ridge, Illinois store if they'd like to buy the location. He says several people are interested in the store.
