Almost every day this week has had the chance for showers and storms. Wednesday stayed mostly dry besides a few sprinkles in southern counties. Thursday's rain chance looks a bit better with a good area of rain already forming in Minnesota and Iowa and moving east. The best chances for rain locally will be in our southern counties during the late morning and afternoon hours.
The chance for storms is not super high locally, but a few isolated rumbles of thunder are possible in our southern counties. The better chance for some strong to severe storms will be to our south where parts of Iowa and Illinois are under a Level 2 Slight Risk.
Going into Thursday's chance for rain, August is doing well on rainfall. The first two weeks of the month have seen decent rain with 2.81" over 1.40" above average. Last year was a very wet August after the historic flooding from August 9-10, 2025.
