Attorney for Steven Avery announces $100,000 reward for "real killer" of Teresa Halbach

MANITOWOC, Wis. (CBS 58) -- A $100,000 reward is being offered for information leading to the arrest and conviction of "the real killer" of Teresa Halbach.

The announcement about the reward was made by Steven Avery's attorney, Kathleen Zellner. Zellner teased the announcement on Twitter on September 7. 

Avery is serving life in prison after he was convicted in 2007 for the murder of Wisconsin photographer Teresa Halbach.

The case is the subject of the popular Netflix docu-series Making a Murderer

Zellner says the reward is being offered by a concerned citizen.

MANITOWOC, Wis. (CBS 58) -- The Attorney for Steven Avery says a big announcement is coming Monday.

Avery is serving life in prison for his 2007 conviction of 1st Degree Intentional Homicide in the murder of Teresa Halbach.

The case is the subject of a Netflix series called 'Making a Murderer.'

Defense Attorney Kathleen Zellner made the announcement on Twitter.

 Last month, a judge denied Avery's request for a new trial.
