Awkward Nerd Book Fair brings nineties nostalgia to Milwaukee 📚

MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- The Awkward Nerd Book Fair is set to return to Milwaukee this summer, bringing books, nostalgia and geek culture to The Cooperage.

Hosted by Awkward Nerd Events, the second annual fair is set for Sept. 17 and aims to rekindle the magical school book fair experience for adults with a more mature twist.

Guests will have an opportunity to chat with local booksellers, comic creators, authors and game sellers, with additional features including a Reading Nook, Craft Area and Story Hour from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.

LEGO displays, themed drinks, a photobooth and more can be expected.

Among the guest authors attending are Raven Jemison, discussing her book on business operations; Ben Percy, a former visiting professor at Marquette University who will talk about his work with Marvel; Bill Fliss, a JRR Tolkien archivist; Jimmy Juliano, author of "Dead Eleven"; Erica Ruth Neubauer, a Milwaukee-based author; Ben Riggs, an educator with a focus on Dungeons and Dragons; and Tea Krulos, a local journalist.
