MILWAUKEE (CBS 58)-- Labor Day marks the last day of summer vacation for some Milwaukee Public Schools (MPS) students.
The traditional calendar begins Tuesday, Sept. 6, which includes most elementary schools.
All high schools, middle schools, K-12 schools, and seven elementary schools returned on Aug. 15.
MPS is following a mask-optional policy for the start of classes.
Masks will be required only when Milwaukee County falls into the high category of COVID-19, as determined by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).
The CDC updates data weekly on Thursdays at 7 p.m.
MPS will offer free breakfast and lunch to all students.
