MILWAUKEE (CBS 58) -- Students at some schools, like the Barack Obama School of Career and Technical Education (SCTE), start school as early as next week. Early start for Milwaukee Public Schools (MPS) is Monday, Aug. 14, and traditional start for MPS students is Tuesday, Sept. 5.

Lea Lewis organized the event to ensure all kids feel prepared as they head back to the classroom.

The event is more than school supplies. Families can also enjoy free food, bounce houses, and horseback riding.

Similar events are going on throughout the area.
